Squeezed Vincent van Gogh

Greg Constantine's avatar Greg Constantine

"Squeezed Vincent van Gogh" has been created entirely from paint squeezed directly from the now-empty paint tubes attached to this artwork. No brushes were utilized, although there are about one hundred sitting in a container here along with Vincent's palette, his dismembered ear, his self-inflicting gun, and one of his old shoes. The mouth of a paint tube is a perfect "machine" for dispensing paint on a canvas. I have created more than 160 paintings with this technique over the past 50 years. I must also refer to Vincent's being psychologically "squeezed" by society and his own abrasive relationships with people.
