Isolation Series

Wayne Williams's avatar Wayne Williams

Wayne Williams: The Isolation Series illuminates the effect of societal issues on the individual by magnifying aspirations that have been proliferated in society. These contemporary paintings chronicle human struggle with identity through the lens of the artist. Williams interprets the influences that have defined the human construct in early America and reverberated in life as we know it today while creating the Isolation series. The individual’s disposition who populate Williams’s arrangements is given voice through imagery, quotations and excerpts from his research developing the Isolation series. The title of the panels are key to understanding how Williams has illustrated a more wide-ranging American experience. The descriptive title of Panel 3 prompts a closer look at the “American Dream” and how it is often unattainable due to adverse systematic forces outside individual control.
