This 20-foot backlit glass bead weaving depicts my grandparents as we were always seated in their kitchen while eating, playing Scrabble, or just looking out the window which provided the light captured on film in the 1980’s. In a way, this piece has been decades in the making. Their profiles are meticulously woven with black opaque, clear translucent, and "iris" beads . The space between them is created with a chance system to represent stars and constellations symbolizing life events and shared memories. Each bead represents one hour of Grandma's life for a total of 785,000 beads (rounded up). The title evokes the classic 'Kodak moment' and/but, more importantly, is their house number as part of a personal numerology in which I believe that checking the time to see "10:23" is a sign from them. Whether that is true or not, it serves as a source of centeredness, contemplation and restoration. @fodopro
