My art is supporting kids and puppies, reading and a small butterfly that is blue. Children reading surrounded by blue sky, and blue butterflies and puppies Perfect world, right?! The Karner Blue Butterfly is unfortunately endangered. So it needs our support. The blue lupine flower which grows wild in Michigan supports the Karner Blue as this plant the butterflies lay their eggs on and when the caterpillars emerge they eat this same flowering plant. Michigan's unique environment that supports this beautiful butterfly. 4th grade students and I have written our state Representatives: Sabo (D) Muskegon and VanSingel (R) Newaygo to ask that the Karner Blue Butterfly become our state butterfly as Michigan is one of 2 states that doesn't have a State Butterfly. House Bill No. 5853 is now in the House Committee on Government Operations! Please support the Karner Blue Butterfly to become the Mi State Butterfly!
