Between the Waves

This is a kinetic and interactive installation combining art and technology, using an arduino micro controller to control the fans to create wind for fabric waves. The audience is taken through a visual flow of the beauty of walking between two parting waves - a metaphor for overcoming adversity via a path into the realm of infinite possibilities. The viewer is left feeling enthralled and refreshed at the mesmerizing beauty of wind, light, and sound as they bring to life the depiction of a journey through nature and life. A feeling of peace stays with the viewer and can help them contemplate about what is important in life. The piece is inspired by a combination of the account of the parting of the sea in the Torah, Bible, and Quran as well as inspiration from nature. This includes childhood summers at Lake Michigan and recent working years surrounded by the lagoons of the Maldives, watching waves on sand banks ebb and flow, creating a serene path to neighboring islands at low tide.
