CNCRFRE: May you never experience the same struggle

Jessica Wright's avatar Jessica Wright

In 2007, shortly after my husband and I were engaged, he was diagnosed with stage 3 testicular cancer. This piece symbolizes the trials and triumphs of our journey. After the cancer returned a second time, a layoff while recovering from surgery, financial hardships and discovering we could not have a family of our own as a result of complications, we found “our story” was anything but boring. 10 years later with a lot of hard work and the help of our fertility doctors, we had our wonderful son, Tyler. When you work hard and wait for what feels like an eternity for something, it means that much more. CNCRFRE is my husband’s custom license plate paired with an American Cancer Society plate frame to remind him of our journey. We are active Relay for Life supporters because it is our hope by sharing our story and supporting the right cause, no one will have to know a struggle like ours.
