Mid-West Coast

This piece illustrates two iconic locations in my hometown of Holland. I have lived here most of my life and take every advantage to get outdoors and experience the amazing surroundings that many take for granted. The left, displays the beautiful natural beaches of west Michigan and specifically " Big Red" at the Holland State Park. The right canvas depicts an interpretation of Windmill Island and pays honor to the unique and distinguished Dutch influence displayed throughout town. Each singular canvas is designed in a way that will work compositionally as a standalone piece, yet when pushed together, the negative space in the center of the two canvases creates the silhouette of Michigan. With this work I really wanted to showcase my unique personal style of abstracted form, perspective, and color palette while maintaining a balance of style and identifiability. The completed work consists of 2 canvases 24" x 48" individually. When displayed together with 1"-2" gap will create an overall work of 48" x 48" square.
