Dream World

Dream world

“Dream World” is a 19’x9’ landscape painted by College for Creative Studies alumni, Craig Paul Nowak, with sewn-in characters painted by Ms. Manal Kadry and 22 of her Henry Ford Academy, School for Creative Studies students. “Dream World” is a landscape painting with a collage of young artist's paintings that each represent and personify a strength necessary to persevere in this world. For one student, being sly like a fox means having the skills to adapt with wisdom. For another student, mermaids are angels of the sea and protectors of the hidden underwater world. The student paintings sewn onto this landscape reinforce the idea that diverse characters represent strong values. This is especially important in an era where there is so much pressure on children to blend in. In this dream world, children can make an impact by staying true to themselves. A visual clash of distinct characteristics is intended to force viewers to recalibrate their own view of harmony.
