My current body of work focuses on instinct and identity. The animal form is consistently the visual anchor but highly abstracted. The animals also symbolize the complex idea of instinct and how our impulses affect and sometimes determine our journey through life. My physical process reflects much of these concepts. I work in large part from a stream of consciousness. Symbols, textures, layers and rich colors are combined to find the final composition. I'm looking for a venue that can give me a spot and I can then create accordingly. I prefer to work in a large format but the final size is totally flexible. The only other time I participated in ArtPrize 2012 I had a venue never open and it left me scrambling for a new venue to house a 17ft long piece. So I'm trying to avoid that this time around. The animal to be referenced will be TBD but the details/specifics of the painting will be line with my past work. I can give updates as work progresses to make sure that it's acceptable.
