“Vanitas Vanitatum, Omnia Vanitas.” Vanity is vanity, all is vanity. A Vanitas painting is a Dutch style of still life which grew popular in the 17th century. Often heavily accentuated with symbolism, the image would be a beckoning reminder of fleating mortality. A collection of oil paintings, OMNIA VANITAS serves as a meditation to gaze upon the inevitable end. Featuring depictions of animal and human skulls, dried husks of flowers, hollowed eggs and other shells of left over life. Though a bleak reminder that life is a brief, transitory thing, knowing there is an end should not frighten, but inspire one to find the strength for meaning and purpose with the little time one has. Each piece varies in size on canvas and panel.
