Great Lakes Civil War

Edith Pair's avatar Edith Pair

"Great Lakes Civil War" is a poignant piece depicting life in the Great Lakes. I wanted to use whimsical beauty as the prevalent factor with embellished, 3-D fish to show the beautiful aqua marine-life swimming in our Michigan waters. I also use clay on the eyes, fins and lips to add to texture and depth. My theme revolves around beauty taking a backseat to the constant war with one another.....and more often than not....mankind. To make this depiction even more prevalent (not shown in pictures)....I will be attaching a fishing rod with a single $bill hanging from its hook above the last fish.....no matter how beautiful he/she is...would they risk being hooked by humans if its seems to good to be true.....or risk being attacked by his comrades? Greed and self preservation again as the main theme. A underwater scene (not shown in picture) can be added to make a more dramatic effect showcasing the "true" surroundings of the fish. Piece is approx 14'x6' and can be indoor or outdoor.
