But Did You Die?

There are many layers to the life behind this drawing. I am exploring simple ideas of beauty in the mundane, as well as the pieces of life that are visible, yet not spoken. Ideas of gender, race, age, and all of the labels we seek to find. How do these get woven into the fabric of our lives? How are they evident at any one point? How does that affect the people we choose and do not choose to be a part of our community? The title of this piece is referring to a common comment by the subject. When we are so caught up in the frustrations of life, she brings the big picture back into play. Life is lovely, we need only be still.
