My Galapagos series is a collection of 24 of my mixed media mini-collages (4” x 4” each) mounted on two panels (12 mini-collages on each). The image transfers are from my photographs taken of the animals on the Galapagos Islands during a group hiking trip in January, 2014. I also use a variety of mediums including: dyed/stained papers with acrylic, printmaking with acrylic, colored pencils, and more. Each mini-collage is unique. Many animals represented are only found on the Galapagos Islands. Some are also endangered mainly because of the abuse by humans over the years. My mini-collages will introduce some of the animals to some ArtPrize 10 attendees for the first time. Hopefully, overall, they will encourage attendees to visit the islands in the future, and to inspire discussion and awareness of the animals and their environment. We need to make sure that the Galapagos Islands and their animals will be around for future generations to come.
