Woods Coppery Light

Douglas Rutzen's avatar Douglas Rutzen

"Woods Coppery Light" is a relatively large painting at 96"x 60." The subject is sunlight filtering through a copse of trees near my house in the western Illinois countryside. The color plan is meant to suggest a kind of coppery glow, depicted on the right hand side in the colors of new copper, and on the left hand side in the green hues of oxidized copper. This color idea also obviously refers to the seasons of spring and fall. Painted on a large format, it is meant to foster a feeling of peaceful comfort in a public setting or a large home. Acrylic on stretched canvas are the materials.
