Peanut Butter and Jelly Time is an interactive performance art piece designed to bring the fun back to ArtPrize. Evoking feelings of nostalgia and whimsy; it is the anti-thesis of a diatribe, PB&J time will at times function as a static set of photo-realistic paintings arranged as a diptych. However, daily, during Peanut Butter and Jelly Time, the paintings will come alive and function as performative props, that will encourage engagement from passersby. Whether that interaction be answering questions about personal experiences with artprize or making sandwiches out of the paintings. Peanut butter and Jelly time is a free form experience that questions the nature of categorization in art. The art is not the image or the substrate, it’s the interactions that they facilitate. Video documentation of each day’s PB&J time can be found on our Facebook page.
