Abstractions in Reality

Abstractions in Reality is a diptych of two photographs taken of farming implements manufactured during the World War II era. Over the years, the textures, colors and compositions of the metals that were joined to till, plant and harvest the earth were transformed by the forces of nature into forms that hardly look like their original design. In one of the photos, it looks like I was shooting a planet in a far-away galaxy rather than the gear opening of a John Deere tractor here on earth. As a photographer, I love to capture the abstractions of life that are presented to us by our everyday realities.
