Matrix Vs DoodleGoo

Brandon Styza's avatar Brandon Styza

An abstract drawing on paper composed of doodles, symbols, and scribbles that form a sort of colorful ooze, out from which some rigid grids emerge. This piece was in part inspired by the raw and playful drawings my nieces would send me in the mail. The childishness, and the quality of the utensils used to create them really caught my eye. A lot of typical work artists, including myself, create, utilizes a grid in some form as a technique to help build their piece. By bringing the grid to the forefront and making it a prominent focal point, as opposed to remaining unseen, in the background, or only providing structure, I have achieved the reversal of the grid's typical use. In this case, I have used an isometric grid.
