Slow Morning in Krabi

At 6:45 AM on the southern tip of Thailand, the sun crawled over my shoulders and brought forth the authority held by these imperial limestone mountains. I graciously accepted the opportunity to receive this photograph, as I sweat out my headache and thought about the night before. My travelling companions and I felt it was a night for celebration. I was plump with the kind of adrenaline that apparently accompanies winning a digeridoo competition held in a Muay Thai boxing ring. The competition served as the opening act to one of the most intense fights I’ve ever witnessed. From then on we drank 24 oz. Singhas and dusted the occasional floating spark ambitious enough to reach our t-shirts, generated by the fire-gushing wands of the dancers in the distance. Thus, it was a slow morning in Krabi, as much for me as it was for the entire island, which appeared to be in a universal state of rest. I hope this photograph is able to transmit that same sense of compulsory serenity onto you.
