fishing with grandpa

This entry is a portrait of my grandpa inspired by all the times we spent fishing his favorite fishing holes around his farm. This portrait was a studio composite of many references I gathered while visiting him one summer. He sat for a couple pencil sketches and I took many photos also. One day he seen me coming with my camera in hand and he said no way you have enough. Later that day the two of us went fishing and I pulled my camera out of my pocket and I thought perfect he has no where to go, he gave a quick smile and ignored me. As it turned out it was a great way to paint him because everyone in my family remembers seeing him from this perspective.
