Ode To A not Too Distant Past

Eleanor Swan's avatar Eleanor Swan

‘Ode To A Not Too Distant Past’ has a political narrative, a social comment on the devastating effects of the recession centred around the construction industry in particular, not alone on our country but every country worldwide. Following some very difficult years, hopefully we have learned a lesson that excess and greed do not contribute to a healthy economy. We have had to re-assess and re-evaluate how we live our lives, but, many years have passed and we are still on the road to recovery.....the Golden Crow... a symbol of creativity, positivity, and growth...guides us to a more positive future. The entry consists of 2 glazed stoneware ceramic torsos sitting back to back and an array of 500 houses spreading out from these. They will be exhibited at Grand Rapids Public Museum. After the exhibition, 450 houses will be sold through the Museum and the funds raised will be presented to Kids' Food Basket in Grand Rapids, an organisation supporting those in need.
