Kings of Late Night (Medium: Duct Tape)

Kerry Mott's avatar Kerry Mott

This work was made using over 200,000 pieces of DUCT TAPE which I hand cut and carefully overlapped to create a cohesive whole. I chose this subject because with all the negativity in our national community, I wanted to make a piece that would remind people to smile. We all have our favorite late night comedians, whom we've invited nightly into our homes, and this work pays homage to a sampling of them. I chose a relaxed bar setting to reflect their universal appeal. My current work is best described as duct tape pointillism. It is quite a time consuming (sometimes 1000's of hours per piece) and delicate process, but it yields rewarding results. I have received numerous awards including 3 People's Choice awards. My art can also be found in Ripley's Believe It or Not museums. I also am a Guinness World Record Holder with the world's "Largest Duct Tape Artwork" for my work from last year's ArtPrize, which is now hanging in a Guinness museum!
