"Emergence" is an acrylic on board, self-contained painting done in the style of trompe l'oeil. A figurative, realistic depiction of a subtle, tastefully rendered nude female form suspended within the illusion of marble substrata. The figure is partially revealed, emerging from within the veins and patterns of colored marble. The painting is heavily lacquered, sanded, and buffed to a high gloss finish that resembles the actual texture and appearance of Carrara marble. This painting celebrates the beauty of the female form juxtaposed against the contrasting properties of stone.
