A delicate ferocity

“A delicate ferocity” is catching the beauty of a real tiger swallow tail butterfly within a watercolor painting of a tiger. My purpose with this style of art is to let nature show some of its own beauty naturally, in the midst of a painting that features a surreal quality. This art is composed of shadow box mounted within a canvas. I drew my inspiration from the joy and sense of wonder from a dried butterfly terrarium that my grandmother had when I was child. It was one of my fondest memories of visiting her and hope to be able to recreate that sense of wonder for others.
