Changing Tide

"Changing Tide" is intuitive, bold, and expressive. I use oil pigment because it dries slowly, which allows me to blend the color and manipulate the oil with organic movement until it reveals satisfying brush strokes, rich texture, and deep layers. I use rich vibrant tones to capture the expressive style of painting. I paint using large fluid brush work and energetic palette knife work on larger panels. When you view my paintings I hope you can sense a dynamic sense of movement, spontaneity and hopefully, a sense of meaning and peace. This past two years, I have begun studying and painting water. For me, being near a body of water is a place where life slows down, and I feel calm and at peace. I paint in a way that I can feel the water with each stroke of the paint brush or palette knife. In my paintings I try to take the viewer away to a place that is calm and relaxing. I hope you can feel the water in your mind’s eye as you look at this painting.
