Water's Edge

Water’s Edge was inspired by this regal egret gazing over the water in the wetlands near my home. After completing the first panel, I felt that the scene needed to continue to depict more of the wetlands, and it grew into a triptych. Wetlands protect and improve water quality, provide fish and wildlife habitats, store floodwaters and maintain surface water flow during dry periods. They contain a disproportionately high number of plant and animal species compared to other land forms, Unfortunately, the rate of loss and deterioration of wetlands is accelerating in all regions of the world, It is imperative that we protect these areas through measures such as the Clean Water Act and other regulations restricting activity in wetlands.
