Elysian Fields

Kathy Mohl's avatar Kathy Mohl

Before heaven there was Elysian Fields. In Greek mythology, this was a plane of existence reserved for the souls of the most virtuous individuals. Elysian Fields was the most idyllic, peaceful and beautiful place that a mortal soul could go. This painting expresses the feeling of a place like that. A blend of reality and illusion, it blurs the lines between form and essence. It is both a representation of a field at dusk, as well as an abstract meditation of shapes and colors that dissolve into light.
