London Illuminated

I’ve had a love affair with London for as long as I can remember, visiting for the first time as a child and subsequently returning on three separate occasions. The city provides a welcome embrace, and I find solace in its vibrancy, the eclectic pattern of city life. On my most recent trip in November 2016, I wanted to focus on photographing the city of London itself: I wanted to feel the movement, see the juxtaposition of old and new, and capture light through my camera lens. I, like many others around the world, was devastated by the recent attacks in the U.K.: Westminster in December, Manchester in May, and London Bridge in June. But England is strong. Brave. Resilient. London, in the face of terrible tragedy, has been a beacon of light against the hate and darkness of the world. These three images show an illuminated London, a resilient London, a London that values its past and its future, and most of all, a London that is lit in hope against immense adversity.
