"The Fire"

Brothers In Arts

The ArtPrize 9 entry "The Fire" was inspired by a 6pm news report of a home that had burned to the ground. Knowing how fascinated Dan is by fire and fire fighters, I was prepared to record the 11pm rebroadcast to show Dan to see if he would want to paint his interpretation of such an inferno. I replayed a close-up of the blaze in slow mode many times then challenged Dan and myself to interpret the emotion of the blaze on canvas. That is the story behind the images you see here, entered side by side as a team. The paintings are for sale either together or individually.

About Brothers In Arts

"Brothers In Arts" is myself and my talented autistic brother Daniel. Dan had always created art that was representational even though the subjects were usually abstract. In early 2002 Dan began to explore non-representational art and I was so fascinated by his work that I followed his lead. -Wm Alexander
