A 2-D abstract piece that explores additive color theory. The piece itself is a 28" x 28" square divided into 2"x2" squares that are filled in with hand cut Color Aid paper. The over all pattern explores color interactions, movement and our emotional reaction to color. Additive color is the opposite of the traditionally taught subtractive color theory, where one starts with light colors and as a result of blending them, light is absorbed. Red+Blue=Purple, Red+Green=Brownish Black for example. In this theory light is taken away. Additive color brings light to color so the result of mixing these colors is white. Red+Blue=Magenta, Red+Green=Yellow and further Red+Green+Yellow=White. In this theory light is added or created. This piece is mounted to a white floating frame to represent the mixing of the colors combining to white.
