By the Fish Ladder

Loretta Rolison's avatar Loretta Rolison

"In 2014 after a typical Michigan winter of ice and snow, and grayness, the time had come to venture forth from hibernation. My sister and I visited Fish Ladder Park: sunlight danced on the water, the wind kicked up the waves, water rushed over the dam, and Steelhead fishermen bravely waded in the cold water or balanced in their boats. We spied fish jumping up the ladder, and saw a muskrat thrust itself out of the water and rest on one of the structure's inner ledges. "By the Fish Ladder' is a pair of paintings celebrating that day. The fishermen, the expanse and energy of the water is in oil, and their quarry, "Amazing Big Fish' in acrylic and collage'. I hope you can feel the vitality of that day and enjoy seeing all "ABF" may have accumulated on his journey or while hidden in the depths of the Grand River.
