Novocain is a time-based work of art that tells a story to the viewer. It represents a story that sadly many have experienced. Novocain is a drug that is used by doctors to make a patient feel nothing. In this video it tells a story of how people abuse drugs and alcohol to make themselves feel numb, because it hurts to be alive. I had a very close family member struggle with drug addiction, and that is how I came up with this story. I realized people do not do drugs because they want to feel good they do drugs to feel nothing. This project means a lot to me I had awesome friends, and colleagues that helped make every aspect of this work of art possible. Special thanks to wife Miranda, Nathan Porter, the Grand Rapids Ballet, and Sloan Inns for their unwavering support. The link to view the video is available now.
