Miners Castle

My goal in creating this piece was to draw the viewer into the spectacular beauty of Miners Castle at Pictured Rocks National Shoreline in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. (NOTE: Two close up sections of watercolor to show the detail and texture ) The perspective of the viewer is as if they are enjoying this natural scene from a boat in the clear, blue waters of Lake Superior. The texture of the sandstone, rock formations, and the varied trees and bushes that line the lakeshore keep the viewer engaged in exploring every inch of the painting. The large size of the watercolor also helps to highlight the exceptional beauty and wonder of the United States first officially designated National Lakeshore.
