Fostering Art Evolution

Clarkston Community Schools

My name is Jessica Hall and I am the Subject Area Coordinator for Fine Arts, in Clarkston Community Schools. We all had our fantastic childhood visions we liked to try and draw. We thought it would be an amazing experience to take those childhood art drawings and make them come to life. The 2016-2017 school year, a team of art teachers worked on a Educational Youth Collaboration piece for ArtPrize. Basically, a kindergartner's drawing is interpreted by an upper elementary student, middle school student, junior high student and high school student. The pictures that are submitted above are the original kindergarten sketch and the interpreted pieces. One of the series will be displayed on 20 x 30 canvases and the other two series will be the original framed works. Kids grow so much artistically through their years in grade school and this project really captures progression and growth. This is such a fun projects for people of all ages to see.
