I am the dying father taking his last breathe. I used myself because a lot of us are becoming numb to these violent acts of terror. It's always ignored until hit too close to home. After the death of Philando Castile I watched his daughter struggle with the death of her father. I realized, we never think of the effect it has on our children. So it was important you felt the little girls pain in my painting. The calm officer who's responsible, standing over the little girl and her dying father, was painted without race because of the overall abuse of power.
