Abstract Waters

My "Abstract Waters" series is inspired by Lake Michigan and both the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans. My husband (originally from Detroit, Michigan) and I (originally from Orlando, Florida) met in graduate school at our campus which is located on Lake Michigan. Our worlds from opposite ends of the U.S. collided in the most beautiful sense. The intricate cells within my acrylic flow pieces represent the various elements that have positively influenced my life since moving near water, including fresh air, waves crashing the shore, the beautiful seascape of the water's edge into infinity, the sun, and a sense of community in caring for both my husband and I and now for our newborn son. I document my process and paintings by currently undergoing an art challenge #the100dayproject on my instagram account (www.instagram.com/radhamehta_art).
