Immeasurable Numbness

My goal for this project was to use artwork as activism: not just in the artistic content, but also in the process. As a result, I took my painting abilities to Wells Hall (Michigan State University) on November 27, 2016 in hopes to engage people that usually avoid conversations about social issues and the Black Lives Matter movement. Through my public demonstration of painting, I encouraged discussion with two prompts and sticky notes for responses. My artwork explores responses to the BLM movement, the existence of other social issues alongside police brutality, and oppressive silencing.
