Hi, my name is Jordan, welcome to my Artprize 2017 entry. As a silver jewelry designer, my focus is mostly Michigan gemstones and greenstone is Michigan's official state gemstone. This 2017 Artprize entry is a 62 carat greenstone with a stunning pattern. My father and I found this stone last year while collecting in the Keweenaw Peninsula of Michigan. Each part of the setting is made from rough stock silver and fabricated using a torch. The necklace chain is handmade from small silver rings linked together in a pattern to form what is known as chain mail. The piece will be brilliantly displayed in a lighted shadow box that I handmade from reclaimed barn wood. Greenstone is found in the Keweenaw Peninsula of Michigan, and on Isle Royale. It's difficult to find and is considered extremely rare. Examples larger than a half inch are rarely found. Of the many gemstones in this world that are good, I'm proud to present, one of the largest flawless gem quality Greenstones known to exist.
