In my most recent installation, YD 1342 8648, I hope to invite the audience into my reason for exploring, living, pursuing, and creating art. The concept for this came from a moment that I witnessed and experienced while serving overseas. My goal was to trigger all of the audience’s senses through the combination of media and the exploration of materials used to create the installation. When it comes to my work in metal, the uncertainty of the outcome and if the metal being poured will fill the mold relates perfectly to the unsureness of the outcome when experiencing that day. The use of both the metal and the rebar wire to construct the form represents the cold and still quality of that day. The wood panels are united to create an overall backdrop to one of the most beautiful and hellish landscapes, that I have ever witnessed.
