Table of Periodicals

Kris Engel's avatar Kris Engel

This table is comprised solely of old magazines and glue. It contains over 7,000 hand-rolled tubes from their pages. Each tube was hand glued on, one at a time. The top was kept relatively flat but the underside reveals the unevenness in the lengths. The idea came from liking the look of magazine pages rolled; and wondering how strong they could be together. After a little experimenting… a piece of furniture was the next logical step. It was an enjoyable project to undertake for the fun of using found materials and the idea or re-purposing something. A year and a half later it was completed. Update: Added a lamp to complement the table. It is a stick lamp with rolled magazine pages and glue as well. The shade is made from metal rods, paper, epoxy and glue.
