I was born and raised on the west side of Grand Rapids, but 40 years ago moved to Boston. Returning now, the growth of my hometown is staggering. Inspired by the development of the healthcare industry and the craft beer explosion, I began 2 series of fabric collage and thread sketch works, “Artist’s Vision” and “Beer City.” –– Artist's Vision was based on images of my own retina and iris. The eye, like the heart, seems to hold a place of mystery for us ... just a bundle of cells, yet laden with emotion and communication. –– Beer City. Forty years ago, who could have predicted? And such inspiration for this beer & food lover! From my favorite ingredient, hops, to the joy of a freshly pulled pint ... and then there's rye, and citrus, and, so many styles to try! –– My medium is fabric and thread. I find something magical in their ability to transform from an everyday mundane material into a 3-dimensional object or portrait.
