The Rhythms and Colors of the Porcupine Mountains

Through my work, I capture the divine spirit and life force that connects all things. The forms within my paintings express themselves visually through the rhythmical patterns and movement created with my strokes. It is as if you could almost hear the music that influenced the piece while in creation, reminding the viewers of the natures beauty, flow and design in life. The Rhythms and Colors of the Porcupine Mountains was inspired by my time spent in the upper peninsula of Michigan last summer during an artist-in-residence program. Within this series there will be seven different interpretations that capture the vibrational energy and life forms of the Porcupine Mountains through painting. In the past, the majority of my works have captured the colors and forms within the sandy landscape along Lake Michigan. Because of this, the lush green forests of the Porcupine Mountains has opened a new world to my work, bringing a fresh color palate, new forms and scenery to my body of work.
