Spring Ephemerals

Oil on Canvas 54x60" Picture shown is from the same series- this entry is an incomplete painting so far but will be done by August. Please see my previous work for samples of oil paintings and drawings in the same style. Painting will feature a misty skyline of bare trees. A gently sloping hill reveals a floor covered in spring ephemerals- trillium, trout lily, Virginia bluebells, Dutchman's Breeches all sprout through a layer of dry leaves. I'm going to try something new for me- I'm going to complete this painting with only instrumental music, no lyrical music or audiobooks. I estimate its about 100 hours of quietude. I find myself just trying to pack every moment with sound and distraction. It may sound simple, but this will be a real challenge. I want this painting to be a mediation. I want to try to find a quieter space in my mind. I want to rely on just the image to strongly evoke something greater than the constant distractions.
