Golden Daze

One never knows exactly what masterpiece of nature they will discover on a walk in the autumn woods. Vibrant colors burst from the treetops to the forest floor carpeted in fallen leaves. Animals scamper and rustle all around readying themselves for winter. Oh what beauty to behold! Hundreds of thousands of pieces of fabric were cut by me and sprinkled to a depth of 1/2-3/4" on a quilt base to make this Impressionist-like scene. When the 'confetti' positioning was complete, the creation was covered with tulle and free motion stitched with a sewing machine and invisible thread to prevent pieces from shifting. The quilt edges were cut by hand to create a deckled effect before sewing to the mat. The inspiration for this work of art was a wooded walkway in Fayette County Pennsylvania leading to Frank Lloyd Wright's Fallingwater House.
