String Theory

Michelle Kliman's avatar Michelle Kliman

String Theory is a site-specific interactive installation that inspires the viewer to become the user! My work centers around ideas of transformation and interaction that engage a person's imagination and innate desire to touch, explore, and create. String Theory will enable people to interact and play with their surroundings and remind them that they can have an effect on the world around them. Through the use of three simple materials—pegboard, pegs, and string—String Theory will engage the viewer on an interface beyond the digital and bring a sense of magic and playfulness to the space. Viewers can use the grid of pegs to 'draw' with the sting in infinite configurations, constantly changing and evolving the look and feel of the space. Photo documentation with be displayed to track the transformation as well as posted on social media. Video is of past moving surface explorations.
