'Brenda Lee'

"Brenda Lee" is a song I wrote for my Mother (the namesake of the song), Brenda Lee Lavengood (Geldhof). She grew up in the 60's and 70's just north of Grand Rapids in Comstock Park, MI, the same town my parents raised me and my siblings. She always had the cards stacked against her, but yet, has managed to make the most out of her life. Her story is probably not so different than that of countless other single mothers trying to find their way in this industrial American society. "I could never bear her burdens. I could never sing her blues. But I'll always remember the color of her baby blues..." - excerpt from "Brenda Lee" 'Brenda Lee' is featured on my Bluegrass Dobro album, "No Part of Nothin'".
