Aspiration Series

I am not a Sunday Painter. My studio is a spiritual container—the safest space I’ve ever known. It transcends time, abolishes judgement, builds happiness and clings to the lack of fear of loving every part of who I am. Since I was a small child, I have traveled to this place. My mother showed me the passage. I continue to forge out of this sanctuary with enthusiasm and aspire to connect. To connect that beautiful encapsulation to you and others who visually breathe it in. I want a gold star. But this is more complicated than in kindergarten. The one I am aspiring to gain is not obtainable by subscribing to a subjective form of validation. You see, my own truth is in recognizing that to achieve is to not actively pursue achievement in the act of making my art. I am existing to balance the aspiration of connecting and the isolation of creating. I tip toe with intention on this tight rope. I know I might fall, but I have already signed a waiver. I am not a Sunday Painter.
