Wishing Well / Functional Art

David Raczkowski's avatar David Raczkowski

Wishing Well was created after I was inspired to form, and finish a couple of old maple logs that, (at the time) I thought I was going to burn. It was a satisfying process revealing the simple, natural beauty of what I may have otherwise overlooked. The thought of giving them a nice home pretty much just popped into my head. Could a nicely designed and engineered 'coffee table' be art -- too? Well, sure, I thought. I'll invite the viewer to ponder the beauty, and diversity of the wood in this piece as symbolic of Humanity -- if you will. The Lake Michigan stones, representing wishes -- cast in varying intentions -- but all of them bound by hope for a more peaceful world for us all. All the billions of us here. Thank you for checking me out, and enjoy Artprize! Peace Love...
