playing with fire

"playing with fire" is a series of 5 stoneware vessels representing a selection from a plethora of explorations with a variety of alternative firing processes during several summers of experimentation in the ceramics studio. The tightly controlled form of each thrown and altered piece is complemented by the unpredictable nature of each alternative firing process (naked raku, traditional raku, pitfire, woodfire, and horse hair raku). The unpredictable surfaces that result, balance and complete the controlled forms.
