#cleanseinstall is an ongoing project. The pieces are self portraits created from a 3D scan of my body and made with soap. They are distributed both personally and anonymously in various locations and at the gallery until the available numbers are exhausted. I ask participants to document the piece on Instagram - #cleanseinstall and Facebook - @cleanseinstall, livestreaming during the event if they so choose. This piece is an ongoing investigation of the effects of the environment on the body, concepts of aging, beauty, permanence and impermanence, and ultimately, change. I want to use this opportunity to distribute these pieces during a volatile and crucial time in our country while thinking about women's bodies. Hundreds of them will be made available for the public. I'd like participants to think about how our current environment, the physical, emotional and political, have an affect on women's bodies today and document where the soap goes with them, and how it dissolves with time.
