Gone Fish'n

I was looking to create movement yet have stability about the piece. The bear was chosen because of its symbol of strength which became the stable element for the composition. During the research it was uncovered that brown bears and grizzly bears stand in shallow areas of rivers near the edge of small waterfalls and wait for spawning fish to make their way up river and jump out of the water. The river was to become the movement element of the composition. During my reasearch several images were uncovered with bears standing in rivers catching fish. Because these types of pictures were prominent, the decision was made to not include the fish in the drawing to assist in originality of the artwork.
